Stagebox

The Stagebox is a weekly event that occurs every Monday from 7-10 PM. This is a social event that allows artists to perform and showcase their talents on stage. Each event is structured as an open mic, however, the talents span beyond just spoken word, as we welcome all sorts of artists. We have seen artists perform poetry, sing, tap dance, rap, play instruments, etc. The stage is open to any performance style, so you can be as creative as you want!

Annual Anthology Publication

The Annual Anthology Publication is an opportunity for artists to submit any visual arts piece for a chance to be published in our book series UNITED. Artists can submit any style of visual art (i.e. poetry, short story, photography, comic art, etc.). Each year, the application opens from April 1st – April 30th. After submission closes, our team selects a review committee to review each submission using a standard rubric. After the pieces are reviewed, the artist will be notified sometime in May/June.

Writers Retreat Fellowship Program

The Writers Retreat Fellowship Program is an opportunity for artists to apply and be selected to go on a weekend-long retreat with professional and reputable artists who will teach writing and performance techniques to further develop creative talents. Each year, the retreat takes place at a different get-away location that creates the perfect environment for learning and bonding with fellow artists.

T-Shirt Quote Competition

This is a super fun opportunity for anyone to submit profound quotes and/or provocative designs. Each submission will be reviewed amongst a committee to select 1 design. The winning design will be printed on t-shirts.

BMU Academy

BMU Academy consists of professional writer workshops. The workshops span a wide variety of topics that are intended to further educate and develop artists in specific areas of interest (i.e. Financial Literacy, Editing Techniques, Creative Concept, etc.).

Pillow Talk Poetry (PTP) YouTube Series

Pillow Talk Poetry is a YouTube series in which we invite artists on our channel to have a conversation to get to know the artist and their artistry on a more personal level.

Partnerships with Academic Institutions

As an organization, we value collaborating with the greater landscape of organizations. We have partnered with a variety of organizations in the past, and hope to continue this effort. We have partnered in many capacities, such as partnering with mental health organizations, as well as schools, whereby we curate poetic assemblies for grade school students. In addition, we have worked with educational organizations in curriculum design.
